With the approach of Remembrance Day, we once again pause to remember our citizens who served in the two Great World Wars.
In honour of Remembrance Day several years ago, the Caledon East Historical Society published For Those Who Served, a book written by Bolton native, Murray Hesp, with introductions by Ken Weber, a well-known local author.
 | | REMEMBRANCE DAY IN BOLTON Remembrance Day services were held Sunday at the Bolton cenotaph. Hon. Col. William Coyle was among the special guests to place a wreath at the cenotaph. |

This book won a nomination in the Cultural Category of the Heritage Community Recognition Program for 2003, which is sponsored by the Ontario Heritage Trust.
Murray Hesp, in For Those Who Served, has outlined the war time experiences of the men and women from the Town of Caledon and neighbouring areas. The letters written by the men and women who served contain many graphic and poignant accounts of the hardships endured, the battles fought and the insights gained during the two world wars. The Introductions by Ken Weber are a great overview of the events of these two wars.
Murray's main purpose in doing this research and writing this book was to ensure that we preserve the memory of those from our community who served in two significant events in an important time in our history.

Many of the younger generation have no recollection or memory of the events of the two world wars and because of Murray's work, they will now be able to learn of those people in their own community who were affected by it, and of their stories.
Copies of For Those Who Served have been placed in all of the local schools and libraries, and sales to the public continue to grow. This book will serve as a great comment for years to come on an important time in our local history.
