Fifth win of the season for Caledon Lightning peewees Caledon Lightning peewees defeated the Brampton Spitfires 5-3 at Lloyd Wilson Arena in Inglewood this past Saturday. An all-action game with Caledon's full squad in top form. Just 90 seconds from the face-off Kristian Balinov scored the first goal with the assistance of Luke McAree. The second period saw Tyler Tiessen score two singlehanded goals. Luke McAree and Kristian Balinov each scored in the final period assisted by Hayden Gorman and Kyle Milik respectively. Local business sponsors for the Caledon Lightning peewee team this season include Canadian Tire, Southdown Road, Mississauga; Glen Echo Nurseries Inc. of Caledon East, Transrite Transportation of Vaughan; Tisho's Music Academy, Bolton, and What's On Ontario local event Web site (www.whatson.on.ca). Said coach Mike Sheridan: "Another excellent game! Of course there's always room for improvement, but the results speak for themselves. I am particularly pleased with the minimal time in the penalty box. "We appreciate the support of local businesses who step forward with sponsorship funding. It gives the team an opportunity for get some valuable tournament experience." They won 4-1 against Caledon Black Hawks at Bolton arena Oct. 20. The fast-paced game was evenly matched with the first period closing scoreless, despite many attempts by both clubs. Second-period action saw Lightning's Tyler Tiessen open the scoring unassisted. He was quickly followed by Kristian Balinov scoring with Kyle Milik and Christian Brugger with the assists on the second goal. The third Lightning goal was Milik from Balinov. The third period saw another Lightning goal by Hayden Gorman, this time unassisted. With 4 minutes to the end of the game the Blackhawks achieved their goal, taking away the shutout. Other Lightning offensive players Patrick Bourne, Christian Brugger, Luke McAree, Michael Tepper, Cody Tremblay and Dylan Yandeau also hustled well in this hard-fought game. The full ice surface was used throughout the game. It was an excellent game to watch and there seems to be a particular physical component when Caledon faces Caledon. "The team play is improving. They all worked hard for their forth win of the season," said coach Mike Sheridan. |
