Cyclist struck by suspected impaired driver

Caledon OPP officers responded to 22 property damage and six personal injury collisions during the week ending Oct. 22.

The following are those charged under Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act and were served with the seven-day driving suspension and the vehicle impoundment for seven days:

Oct. 16, Highway 9 and Caledon-King Town Line, 41-year-old male from Toronto.

Oct. 16, Highway 10 and King Street, 20-year-old Georgetown male.

Oct. 17, Highway 9 and Mount Hope, a 60-year-old Toronto man.

Oct. 17, Highway 10 and The Grange, 17-year-old male from Shelburne.

Oct. 18, Heart Lake Road and Escarpment Road, 22- year-old Orangeville woman.

Oct. 18, Highway 10 and The Grange, 17-year-old Brampton female.

Oct. 20, Highway 10 and The Grange, 47-year-old Toronto man.

Alcohol & Driving

Thursday, Oct. 18, a vehicle stop on King Street near McLaughlin Road for a Highway Traffic Act offence resulted in charges for the driver as well as a seven-day vehicle impoundment for excessive speed. Derek Mazuran, 37, of Georgetown, was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle- Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Cocaine. Court date was set for Nov. 26.

Thursday, Oct. 18, a traffic complaint on King Street near Humber Station Road led to a vehicle stop and a subsequent charge for the driver. Douglas Legge, 40, of Brampton, was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle- Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood. His court date was set for Nov. 22.

Sunday, Oct. 21, 43-yearold Jennifer Garcia of Brampton was charged following her involvement in a motor vehicle collision at King Street and McLaughlin Road in Caledon. Garcia failed to stop at the collision and will appear in court Nov. 22, charged with Impaired Driving, Failure to Provide a Breath Sample, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident.

Sunday, Oct. 21, 56-yearold Richard Moylan of Mono Township was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood. Moylan was involved in a collision while driving his pickup westbound on Highway 9 near The Gore Road, when he collided with a cyclist who was also travelling westbound on Highway 9. He will appear in court Nov. 29. The cyclist, 33-year-old Shannon Hardy of Caledon, was taken to Sunnybrook Medical Centre with non-life threatening injuries.

Break & Enter

Thursday, Oct. 18, during the night hours, a rear window of a home on St. Michael's Crescent was broken to gain entry to the house. Nothing was reported missing.

Thursday, Oct. 18, during the daytime hours, a front window was pushed open on a Shaw's Creek Road residence. Asafe containing personal paperwork was stolen.

Friday, Oct. 19, a home on Old School Road was entered during the midday hours. Culprit(s) forced open a window to gain entry. Jewellery was reported stolen from the home.

Domestic Disputes

Caledon OPP officers responded to six domestic disputes between Oct. 15 and 21. Charges were laid in Caledon Oct. 20.

OPP officers responded to eight domestic disputes between Oct. 8 and 14. No charges were laid.

Caledon OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes between Oct. 2 and 6. Charges were laid Oct. 6 in Bolton and Caledon in separate incidents.
