Zonta recognizes women who inspire The Zonta Club of Brampton-Caledon has welcomed nominations for its 2007 Women of Achievement Awards, recognizing women from Brampton and Caledon, who have made exemplary contributions to their communities. "The Women of Achievement Awards are a way to celebrate women who have made a difference," said event chair, Margaret Good of the Zonta Club of Brampton- Caledon. "The awards are a wonderful opportunity to honour women of the Brampton and Caledon communities who, by their own initiative, dedication, perseverance and pioneering spirit, are role models for other women." The 2007 Women of Achievement Awards will recognize the leadership displayed by women in a number of fields of interest. Among the nominees this year is Caledon's Joanne Smith, in the category of Sports, Wellness and Healthy Living. The nominees have been sent to a judging panel to consider which three will be declared the Women of Achievement 2007 in the Brampton and Caledon. The 2007 Women of Achievement Awards Gala will also raise funds for the Wellsprings Cancer Centre in Brampton. All proceeds will go towards the completion of the Brampton Centre, which provides a wide range of cancer support program and services to people living with cancer and those who care for them. The reception is at 6 p.m. and dinner commences at 7 p.m. The Zonta Club of Brampton-Caledon is a chapter of Zonta International which has been serving the world since 1919. Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of professionals working to improve the legal, political, economic and health status of women at both the local and global levels. |
