Lightning strikes twice After suffering two losses in the first two games of the year, the Caledon Lightning bantams are starting to gel. They welcome five new members to the team: Alex Paglia, Alex Filice, Andrew Marchione, Matthew Pullicino and Kyle Carberry. September 29 the Caledon Lightning bantam select played the Brampton Snipers in the new Caledon East arena. The team played with great determination and spark making it was an extremely exciting game. In the 1st period Matt Mair scored at 7:46 with Jacob Hogan and Connor Bowles assisting on the play. The 2nd period didn't see any scoring from either team. However, the Caledon squad did end up in the penalty box 4 times. The third period Matt Mair scored again at 4:24 unassisted. Caledon was out shot 20- 15, but some fantastic goaltending by Jamie Corbett kept the Snipers in check. Jamie was an inspiration for the whole team. Final score 2-0 for Lightning. Caledon played with tenacity and never stopped skating and checking. In the 1st period at 6:37 Kristian McMillan scored assisted by Jacob Hogan and Grayson Bernard. At 4:41 the Snipers scored making for a very tense game. In the 2nd period Kristian launched a rocket from just inside the blueline and scored again, assisted by Jacob Hogan and Connor Bowles. Andrew Marchione's determination allowed him to get 3 shots in the 2nd period. No scoring in the 3rd period. The Lightning was out shot 19-17, but chalked up a 2-1 win. |
