Chamber to lobby council on population

Tuesday, Nov. 6, the Caledon Chamber of Commerce will delegate the Town of Caledon council again as a continued effort to address the population forecasts. At an evening session of council, the staff will report back to council on the Chambercommissioned urbanMetrics paper. At this time the Chamber will be restating its position and urging the councillors to revisit OPA 203.

The Chamber's position:

A. That council instruct staff to assign continuous phased-in residential and employment growth to the Bolton Area immediately and specifically to the lands in South Albion to support the Bolton businesses that have invested in the Town of Caledon and their thousands of employees.

B. That coincident with any amendment to the Region and the Town Official Plans which results in the expansion of the Mayfield West settlement area, council resolves to initiate a settlement area boundary expansion for South Albion/Bolton to accommodate the growth.

For more, contact the Chamber at 905-857-7393.
