MP Tilson lauds Speech David Tilson, MP for Dufferin-Caledon, returned to Ottawa Oct. 16 to begin the fall parliamentary session. The fall session officially began with the Speech from the Throne, read by Her Excellency, the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean. The speech outlined a long-term agenda of clear goals and real results, focused on making life better for Canadians and their families. Most importantly, Canadians want a government that: * Is accountable and spends taxpayers' money wisely. * Delivers real benefits to ordinary working people and their families. * Works co-operatively with the provinces and territories. * Defends and advances Canada's interests and values in the world. Prime Minister Harper and his government are pursuing a mandate based on five core priorities which include: - Strengthening Canada's sovereignty and place in the world. - Strengthening the federation and our democratic institutions. - Providing effective economic leadership. - Tackling crime and strengthening the security of Canadians. - Improving the environment and health of Canadians. "Under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Harper, our government is building a better Canada that puts Canadians and their families first. It is a strong, focused agenda with achievable priorities," Tilson said. "I look forward to continuing to work with our government to deliver real results for the people of Dufferin-Caledon." |
