Roth bantam AE Hawks square off

Roth Diamond Tools bantam AE squared off in a couple of regular season tilts.

The first featured Brampton playing at the new Caledon East Arena Oct 1. In the first, the Hawks played well with play even both ways and no goals to count.

In the second a short bench along with penalty trouble created the perfect storm of 5 unanswered Brampton goals.

In the third the Hawks gamely played on but a confident Brampton scored their sixth marker and looked for the shutout. This was interrupted when Alex Boughen created a turnover to Ryan Briggs who in turn found the big captain Cam Miller parked in front with the backhand lamplighter.

Three days later the Hawks travelled to Elora for their first meeting of the season.

In the first the Hawks were back in form controlling play and drawing the penalties. First to strike paydirt was Fernando Zambito who converted the one-timer from linemate Brandon Richard. The second period blues again struck the Hawks with 5 penalties to kill. The result was different this time, however, as David Rothfuchs shorthanded set Cameron Miller free down the right side for a top corner twine-bender. Elora replied at 4:03 with Caledon striking back less than a minute later (again short handed) as Joseph DiMarco pounded a low point shot home unassisted. Elora counted another on the powerplay with 2 minutes remaining.

With only 10 seconds to go Rothfuchs walked in alone and powered a shot home counting the third Hawk shorthanded goal of the period.

In the third the Hawks surrendered an early goal then regained control of the play. At 3:13 it was Brandon Richard finishing with a bang off the fine play making of Ryan Rausch and Miller. The final goal with only one minute remaining featured Richard again setting up Zambito as he was rewarded again for a fine nights work. Nathan Cole recorded the win in net behind Daniel Butts , Cody Ruff, Clark Stewart, Rothfuchs and Joseph DiMarco.
