Livestock lost in barn fire

Sunday, Oct. 14 at approximately 2:56 a.m. Caledon Fire & Emergency Services responded to a report of a structure fire fire at 5612 Olde Base Line Road.

Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed the structure to be a barn fully involved with fire. Crews commenced a defensive fire attack from the exterior using hand lines due to the advanced fire conditions. The structure collapsed shortly after fire crews' arrival. Additional fire apparatus was request and a tanker water shuttle was utilized for a water supply for fire operations. The barn was operational and some livestock was lost in the fire. Fire damage was contained to the barn.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still is under investigation and damage is estimated at $125,000.

Agencies responding included Caledon East, Inglewood, Caledon Village, Mono Mills Cheltenham fire stations, Caledon OPP, Peel EMS, and Hydro One.
