Lightning peewees suffer first loss

Caledon Lightning Peewee suffered their first loss this season to the Brampton Snipers recently.

The Lightning, who played short-handed during all three periods, held out well. Two APs (Alternative Players) - Jordan Harding and Aris Morihovitas - stepped in for the Lightning team at the home game in Caledon East to help fill out the lineup.

During the first period there were several saves made by Lightning goalie Paul Moratti and his hot glove. Many Lightning attempts to score were kept out by the Snipers. No goals were scored at the close of the first period.

Lightning's moment arrived to score as Patrick Bourne and Kristian Balinov set up team member Christian Brugger, who had just come onto the ice, scoring the Lightning's sole goal. The Snipers evened the score to 1-1 towards the end of the second period.

Both teams were playing short during the third period, but despite the hard work of the Lightning defencemen, the Snipers scored two more goals. The final score was 3- 1 for the Snipers. It was a fast, energetic game, and both teams hustled well.
