Wanderers' under 8 boys selects strike gold!

The under 8 boys' selects had a perfect recrod at the North Mississauga International Tournament, winning the gold.
The Bolton Wanderers under 8 boys selects took on all comers Sept. 8 and 9 at the North Mississauga International Tournament and came away with both the gold and an unblemished record!

Saturday's preliminary matches saw Bolton defeat Ajax 4-0, and Rexdale 3-0.

A perfect start and clean sheet (for the entire tourney) for the "wee man," goalkeeper Ryan DeFoa who along with his mates would continue their winning ways dominating the semifinal against North Mississauga to emerge with a 3-0 victory. Matthew Rigato scored on free-kick, while Agostino Greco reigned in a rebound off a penalty shot to find the back of the goal. Michael Filippo cemented the win with a goal from the penalty spot.

The tone for the final was set early with Bolton controlling the play and hemming Aurora in the own end for much of the match. 2-0 was the end result, and plenty of celebration was to follow from the Bolton players and fans alike, along with special guest onlooker, Wanderers' club head coach Billy McKenna.

A hearty congratulations go out to all the U8 boys selects: Ryan DeFoa, Daniel Berno, Michael Carnevale, Michael Filippo, Agostino Greco, Matteo Marini, Mathew Rigato (fantastic defensive efforts in the final game), Sebastian Risa, Xavier Romeo, Joshua Scarafile, Sam Siskos (great offensive effort in the semi), and Christian Tavares (scored 1 goal)! The U8 Boys are coached by Joe Pianelli (head coach), Mark Pianelli, Mark Rocca, and Paul DeSantis and proudly sponsored by D & S Plumbing.

Meanwhile, Sunday at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Woodbridge, Bolton's under 16 boys found the going a little tougher perhaps than expected in the Ontario Cup tier 2 final and would have to settle for the title of provincial "runners-up."

This team, however, is to be congratulated not only for its superb efforts in the Ontario Cup playdowns and in achieving a Wanderers' club milestone by reaching the provincial final, but also on its outstanding league play this season. Coach Carlo Fantin and his staff can be incredibly proud of the boy's achievements. Congratulations once again to the Wanderers' boys U16s and perhaps potential Ontario Cup Champions in the future, Bolton's U8 boys selects.
