Roth Diamond bantam Hawks open on the road

Roth Diamond Tools bantam Hawks played their regular season opener on the road Sept. 29 in Ancaster.

Our boys got off to a strong start owning the first period shot advantage 9 to 4. At mid-period the first marker was tallied off a bullet drive from Brandon Richard, assisted by David Rothfuchs. As the period waned it was Alex Boughen chipping one in with helpers to Fernando Zambito and Clark Stewart.

The second period was more evenly played as the Hawks repeatedly had to kill off short-handed situations. This allowed Ancaster to pot three goals with the Caledon answer coming from Brandon Richard off the feed from Alex Boughen.

In the third the Bolton Rocket (Richard) struck again with assistance from Ryan Rausch. Brandon was a force throughout the game tallying eleven shots on goal. Ancaster counted the last goal securing a tie game against a tired and shorthanded Hawks.

Nathan Cole was strong in the Caledon cage stopping 11 shots in the third period alone. Great start boys. Go Hawks!
