SALAMANDER FESTIVAL A HIT
Belfountain was a hive of activity Saturday for the annual Salamander Festival. These youngsters got a chance to see a native Jefferson blue-spotted salamander up close. Unfortunately, oils from skin contact make handling the creatures risky.

Members of Caledon West Rotary cooked up elk burgers for a hungry crowd at the Salamander Festival, sponsored by the Belfountain Community Organization.
It was hard to resist getting up and dancing to the sounds provided by talented entertainers Saturday at the Belfountain festival.
Local children (above) got into the act performing a dance and special song which honours the Jefferson salamander. Balloon animals (right) were a hit among the children, too.
