Barnes named new CAO

Mayor and council for the Town of Caledon have appointed Doug Barnes as the new CAO. Barnes will commence his duties with the Town of Caledon Nov. 12.

"Doug has a strong record of managing effective strategic government efforts," said Mayor Marolyn Morrison. "Through his leadership and vision, council and staff will continue to be well-equipped to lead initiatives, implement positive solutions, and conduct responsible fiscal management."

Barnes comes to the Town with an extensive background at the Province of Ontario, most recently as the assistant deputy minister for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing. In this role, he worked in the Environmental Planning Division, Municipal Policy Division and Local Services Realignment. He has also worked as an economist with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing, giving him in-depth knowledge in treasury and taxation policy.

"I'm looking forward to joining the Caledon team and working in a great community," commented Barnes.

Caledon is a vibrant community of more than 57,000 residents and more than 1,670 businesses. Providing effective, high quality municipal services is a priority - maintaining a sustainable balance of initiatives that focus on community, environment and development.
