Get spooked at Downey's Farm Market

Downey's Farm Market is anxiously awaiting a slightly spooky start to their ghoulishly exciting 2007 PumpkinFest season. Open weekends to Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m,. Downey's Farm Market entertains the young and young at heart with their spook-tacular annual Halloween festival. PumpkinFest 2007 is the ultimate family Halloween outing.

There is lots to see and do at Downey's PumpkinFest. Get dizzy in the Black Hole, and visit the new and improved children's Boo-Barn. The kids will want to join in the fun and get their faces painted, or decorate a pumpkin to take home. Everyone needs to visit his or her favorite farm animal in the Kritter Corral. Enjoy unlimited wagon rides and come rattle along with the Bare Bones Band, the animated skeleton jamboree. Introduce your kids to Downey's goats as they climb to feeding stations on Ontario's largest goat walk. Let the little ones tackle the three inflatables - balloon typhoon, super-cat-supercurve and the dump truck slide, or try to get lose in the eight-acre corn maze. Come early and play all day.

When the munchies start to attack, it's time to tame your hunger with a visit to Downey's bakery for one of their famous pumpkin donuts and other Halloween treats. All aboard the hot dog express for a barbequed all-beef hotdog or sausage. Visit Poppa John's French fry truck and quench your thirst from the Ice Cream Saloon. Don't forget to pick up some corn stalks, straw bales and fall mums. Wade through the sea of pumpkins to find the perfect one to carve at home.

Plenty of entertainment is on tap. Entertainers are Oct. 6-8, Abracadabra magic show with Steve Baker his Magic Wagon; Oct. 13/14, children's entertainer The Stylemanders; Oct. 20/21, children's singer Eric Traplin and Oct. 27/28, Abracadabra magic show.

Admission is $9 per person or $40 for a family of five (2 adults, 3 children). Downey's Farm is located at 13682 Heart Lake Road, just south of King Road.
