Orangeville and Erin win Caledon-Dufferin tennis playoffs

The Orangeville Express won the A Division playoff championship in the Caledon- Dufferin Interclub Tennis League recently. New playoff champions were crowned in both divisions of the Caledon- Dufferin Interclub Tennis League recently.

The Orangeville Express captured the A Division playoff championship after beating the defending regular season and playoff champion Bolton Blasters in the final 47-31.

The Express advanced to the final after downing the Mono Centre Champions in the quarterfinals and the Caledon Court Jesters in the semifinals. The first-place Blasters had a bye in the quarterfinals and then ousted the Belfountain Beaujolais in the semifinals.

The playoff final between Orangeville and Bolton was their third meeting this year. The Blasters handed the Express their only loss of the season 35-33 May 31 in Bolton while the Express won the second meeting 43- 33 July 19 in Orangeville.

The Bolton Blasters received the Mike Holmes Award for winning first place during the regular season in the A Division of the Caledon-Dufferin Interclub Tennis League this year. Bolton received the Mike Holmes Award for winning the regular season for the third straight year with 577 points, edging out Orangeville which finished with 575 points.

Erin captured both the regular season and playoff championships in the B Division. The playoffs were originally set to be played at Palgrave Tennis Club, but rain resulted in the teams moving to Erin Tennis Club.

In the playoff final, Erin defeated the Caledon East Cee Bees 51-21.

Erin reached the final after eliminating the Mono Centre Monsters in the quarterfinals and Inglewood in the semifinals. Caledon East beat the Bolton Racqueteers in the quarterfinals and the Caledon Canucks in the semifinals.

Erin received the Mike Holmes Award for winning the regular season with 632 points which was 17 points more than the defending regular season and playoff champion Palgrave Put- Aways.
