Participate in Caledon's World Record Walk Oct. 3

To promote a healthier lifestyle, the Town of Caledon is pleased to announce participation in the province-wide "World Record Walk" Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Ontario's "World Record Walk" aims to break the existing Guinness World Record for the most people walking one kilometre simultaneously. Western Australia won in 2006 with 100,915 participants.

"Individuals, families, schools, clubs and businesses within Caledon are all encouraged to get out and get active on October 3," said Mayor Marolyn Morrison.

The Caledon walk will take place promptly at 12:30 p.m. on the Caledon Trailway behind Town Hall at 6311 Old Church Road. The event is free and participants will receive fresh apples compliments of Albion Orchards and bottled water. A limited amount of walking gear (water bottles, pedometers and flashing lights for night excursions) is available on a first-registered first-serve basis. There will also be a gift bag for the youngest walker!

On-site registration occurs from 12 to 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 3. All walkers must sign in at the walk site and walk the full kilometre on the marked route in order to be counted for the record.
