Community youth groups now have a place to call home after the grand opening of the Bolton Rotary Youth Centre last Tuesday.
The youth centre is a 21,000-square-foot addition to the Caledon Centre for Recreation & Wellness located on Bolton's north hill. It features a gymnasium and meeting space.
"What an exciting evening to have this facility opened," said Mayor Marolyn Morrison during the opening ceremonies.
She expressed her thanks to Ross Gray from the Rotary Club of Bolton and to Eriks Eglite, director of recreation and property services with the Town of Caledon, for their work in getting the addition built.
The mayor added Rotary is a wonderful organization that gives back to the community and she thanked the club for its generous gift to the community.
She noted this will promote Scouts and Guides who will call this their home. The recreation and property services department was also recognized by Morrison for pulling off some amazing feats. Karen Fast, president of the Rotary Club of Bolton, was also impressed with the youth centre.
"This is one of the best built facilities in the Town of Caledon," she said.
She thanked the anonymous donor who gave the Rotary Club more than $1 million for this project.
Representatives from the Girl Guides and Scouts also expressed thanks to the Rotary Club and members of Caledon council for making this facility possible. This year marks the centenary for Scouting worldwide.
