Bolton resident decorated by the Canadian Forces

Lieutenant-Colonel Morley Armstrong, Region Cadet Officer presents Bolton's Captain Jim Connery (right) with the 2nd clasp to his Canadian Forces decoration.
Bolton resident Captain Jim Connery has received the second clasp to his Canadian Forces Decoration. The award was presented by Lieutenant-Colonel Morley Armstrong, Region Cadet Officer, in a brief ceremony at the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Central) headquarters Sept. 13.

The Canadian Forces Decoration is a long-service award for members of the Canadian Forces. First award consists of a medal and is awarded after 12 years service. Subsequent awards are received in 10-year increments and are represented by a bar or "clasp" to the initial decoration. Thus, in Capt. Connery's case, the second clasp signifies 32 years service in the Canadian Forces.

Capt. Connery is part of the Cadet Instructors Cadre, the sub-component of the Canadian Forces Reserve that supervises the Canadian cadet organizations: the Royal Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets. Both he and his wife Marilyn (Lt. (Navy) have been avid supporters of cadets in the Bolton, Caledon and Aurora areas for many years.
