October treats not tricks at Caledon seniors' centre

Knock, knock. Who's at the door, you and me looking for more! Shellouts galore at our seniors' centre, wait for you and wait for me. Yes indeedy, Come out and see! Trick and treaters sing a song and dance a step. A great month of activity and good times you bet!

Fall has arrived so our gigantic 12th annual fall Craft & Bake Sale Oct. 13 is our highlight of the month. Our grand fund-raiser. Hours have been spent preparing, organizing and staffing to make it yours and ours the best one yet. Deals galore and no reasonable offer refused. Our silent auction is shaping up to be a Bolton best with a fine selection of articles for you to bid on. Our kitchen staff under Marg Patterson has been working overtime preparing and bottling a preserved array of glorious goodies. Your home baking and craft donations are welcome and will be a delicious and welcome sales opportunity for our tables. What an addition to the pantry for everyday and holiday home servings. What smells, what tastes. Don't miss this opportunity to help yourself and help us, too.

Two new programs are under way. Painting classes every Thursday at 10 a.m. and duplicate bridge every Friday at 7 p.m. with professional instruction. Contact the centre to register. Be a Caledon Active Senior Centre Booster. A warm "cuppa" and welcome waits for you so drop in and enjoy. Treat yourself kindly; we will.

Oct. 1 and 3, noon lunch. Birthday & anniversary celebrations.

Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1 p.m. euchre and bridge and Fridays at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 5, Games Day. 9:30 a.m. bridge lessons, noon lunch.

Monday, Oct. 8, Happy Thanksgiving Centre closed. How thankful we are. Enjoy!

Wednesday, Oct. 10, noon Oktoberfest BBQ. Ein prosit to and for all. 1 p.m. Bingo and Club Italiano.

Thursday, Oct. 11, PROBUS, 9:30 a.m. meet & greet, 10 a.m. speaker. Our centre friend, MP David Tilson, will present seniors' issues - identity theft, Funeral pre-arrangement, staying in our own home, etc. Questions, discussion and comment welcome.

Memberships $30/year available anytime. Visitors accompanied by a member welcome.

Saturday, Oct. 13, our 12th annual Craft, Bake, Garage Sale & Grand Silent Auction. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Breakfast at 8 a.m., BBQ and refreshments all day. Home baking and craft donations welcome. Tecumseh Shrine clowns and our children make our day, they love us. It's our major annual fund-raiser. Help us to help you! Be a Centre Booster!

Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. is our monthly dinner. Henry's Hip Of beef and entertainment. Book now.

Wednesday, Oct. 17, trip to Stage West to see Mid- Life Crisis. Delicious lunch. Bus leaves the centre at 10 a.m. returns at 3. Tickets are $61 per person.

Thursday, Oct. 25, trip to Casino Rama. Luxury coach leaves the centre at 9 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. $8/person.

Friday, Oct. 26, 9:30 a.m. Carpet Bowling Tournament. For a fun time. Special tournament for you. $6/person includes lunch. Sign up at Centre.

Wednesday, Oct. 31, noon pot luck lunch and Halloween costume party.

New programs include painting classes, starting Sept. 27 at 10 a.m.; Professional instruction over six sessions. Register now.

Duplicate bridge is under way.Professional instruction. $3/member, $5/Non. All welcome. Register now.

We have had interest in starting a A Scrabble Club, a Chess Club and a Cribbage Club. Contact the Centre or sign up on participation sheets provided in the foyer at the centre.

Volunteer leaders are required to ensure Club activities are managed successfully. Notify the office or Fred Ewart, program director if you are available.
