Season comes to a close for Caledon Soccer Club Another soccer season came to a close for the Caledon Soccer Club. It has been an eventful summer with good weather staying with us. This season brought our official affiliation with the Royal Racing Football Club Montegnee, in Belgium. Through them we can provide opportunities for Caledon and surrounding areas players to play in Belgium as well as enjoy education opportunities while playing at the College and University level. Two young men were selected for the Belgium team this summer from the tryouts that were held in Caledon East. One was from Brampton and the other was one of the Caledon Soccer Club staff coaches, Orlin Chalmers. The Belgium club is building on women's soccer as well as men's creating opportunities for young women to continue their education and play in Belgium, too. We hosted two Ontario Cup weekends this summer where our U14 boys and our U15 girls representative teams participated proudly. All of our representative teams are doing well this year in the respective leagues, wearing the new blue & red jerseys of the Belgium team. The annual all-star recreational tournament was a great success this summer, with more teams and games registered to play than ever before. The following allstar age groups represented Caledon in the tournament. The girls' U10, U12, and U14 with the U10 team winning their tournament and the U12 team making it all the way to the semifinals. The boys' U8, U9, U10 and U16 played well , with the U9 team going all the way it to the semis in their tournament. The club and the town were well represented by our boys and girls and we are very proud of their accomplishments. The same weekend of the all-star tournament the Caledon East fields hosted the 24-hour soccer game for Kick for Cancer. This event was also a great success and supported by many players and sponsors from Caledon and the surrounding areas. Players participated throughout the 24 hours in all age groups from young children to the more mature adult. It was a lot of fun and a worthy cause. Closing day tournament brought us more great weather, all age groups participated in their respective cup games. Of course without the support of our sponsors events like we enjoyed this summer would not be possible. This event will conclude the 2007 season officially, we'd love to see you there to help us celebrate a great soccer season for the Caledon Soccer Club. Contact the club for tickets at 905-584- 4033 The many events we have enjoyed this summer would not be a success without our volunteers. Thank you very much to all those people who volunteered their time this season to the Caledon Soccer Club, you are very appreciated, by the players, their parents and family and by the executive of the club (who are also volunteers). We always have opportunities year round for high school students looking for volunteer hours. Please contact the club for information on how you can volunteer and have fun at the same time. |
