Snowy Owl squadron plan 25th anniversary celebrations The 892 Snowy Owl Air Cadet squadron in Caledon is 25 years young this year and a reunion organizing committee are inviting all past cadets, parents and friends of the squadron to come out and help them celebrate this momentous occasion. It is appropriate that the celebrations are hosted at the Brampton Flying Club, which has provided ongoing and continuing support to the squadron for the duration of the squadron's existence. It is a fruitful and positive community partnership that has, and continues to provide, tremendous benefits to the youth in the Caledon and Brampton communities. In anticipation of the celebration the reunion organizing committee is gathering photo memorabilia recording the squadron's events over the last 25 years and they will have a place of prominence showcasing the squadron's activities in the community. They would welcome any new additions that people would be willing to share and loan for the special evening. Organizers are planning a 50:50 draw and proceeds from the draw will go towards funding a York Soaring Cadet Glider Scholarship. Guests at the evening's celebration will be treated to a country-style open-air dinner dance. Catering for the event is being provided by the BBQ Gourmet Food Company Ltd., which was voted Toronto's number one BBQ caterer for 2006-2007. Smoked Texas brisket with Amarillo BBQ sauce, grilled southern-spiced chicken breast with red pepper mayonnaise and an assortment of salads and hot vegetables will tempt guests' palate. Desserts will be provided by the Brampton Flying Club. The 25th Anniversary Alumni Reunion is being held Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Brampton Flying Club (Hanger No. 3), 13691 McLaughlin Road. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. Be sure and mark your calendars for this special event and pass the word to fellow cadets. This will be the perfect occasion to connect with old friends, former cadets and past officers. Parents of past and present cadets are welcome to attend. Tickets are $55 per person and are limited so organizers encourage interested people to register early to avoid disappointment. Admittance is restricted to guests ages 19 and older.
