Successful open house

On a lovely summer afternoon Peace Ranch opened its doors for the annual open house. The many guests enjoyed barbequed hotdogs and hamburgers and corn on the cob. The gardens were beautiful to stroll about; there was horse back riding, sulky rides behind the miniature horses, wagon rides, a petting zoo, yummy jams and preserves to be purchased as well as some planters and inspired creations.

Our draw was held at the end of the afternoon with Regional Councillor Richard Whitehead doing the honours. N. Holland won the pottery vase donated by Farmhouse Pottery. M. Schwartz won the three double passes to Cineplex Odeon Theatres. The Glen Echo Nursery gift certificate was won by D. Schlatter. The blanket made from Peace Ranch sheep's wool was won by J. Taplin. The etching "Old Odessa" by Jerry Myskiw, donated by Brian Prill, was won by N. Mitchell. C. Morling won the Kodak digital camera. And, finally, the print donated by Cory Trepanier entitled "Winter Warmth" framed by the Old Downtown Gallery in Orangeville was won by M. Robichaud.

Thank you to all of the donors and also thank you to Val Grogan of Charles Printing for printing the raffle tickets.

It was a most pleasant day made doubly so by the hard work of staff, residents and volunteers of Peace Ranch.
