The chickens will be flocking to Bolton this weekend for the 149th annual Bolton Fall Fair.

Again this year the Albion & Bolton Agricultural Society and Campbell Amusements will be opening the midway one day early. The fair will not be open Thursday evening but the midway will be open and ride tickets will only be $1. The gates of the fair open Friday evening at 6 p.m. and the dust will be flying at 7:30 p.m. for the Demolition Derby. Please remember that in the event of rain the derby will still run.

Saturday morning begins with the annual fall fair parade. The parade route starts at the corner of Regional Road 50 and Queensgate and makes its way north to the fairgrounds. Opening ceremonies will begin at noon on the outdoor stage and the Fair Ambassador and Junior Fair Ambassador competition will be held immediately following opening ceremonies.

Entertainment you won't want to miss in the afternoon will be a puppet show by Jungle Jack, The Fairly Odd Parents, a bubble gum blowing contest and a milk chugging contest sponsored in part by Gaylea and Oxford Learning Centre. A classic car show in co-operation with the Caledon Cruisers will also be taking place on the grounds from noon to 5 p.m. The kiddie pedal tractor pull registration will be at 1 p.m. with the pull taking place at 2 p.m. Again this year there will be pedal carts for young and old to go for a spin at the "Chicken Raceway." Don't miss Dr.Bandoli who will be on the grounds during the entire weekend helping out. Jungle Jack will be strolling the grounds with his amazing balloon twisting.

Livestock shows will be held in the arena starting with dairy show at 9:30 a.m. followed by a sheep show at 1 p.m., a beef show starting at 2:30 and an open breeding heifer jackpot will immediately follow the beef show. Make sure to visit the poultry building for the poultry show and take part in the chicken contest being held in front of the poultry building.

Reptilia will be bringing their Mobile Zoo to the fair this year. Be sure to check them out in Old MacDonald's Barn. Don't forget to take a stroll through the Presidents' Building to see the entries in the home craft section. Kids, make sure to look in your fair books because there is a whole section for you to enter items in the fair. They range from baking to colouring and crafts. There are lots of great prizes to be won. So grab the crayons and glue and get creating. Look for the junior section of your fair book for all the details or visit the Web site at www.boltonfair.ca.

Back by popular demand, Edge Motorsports will be bringing their amazing Freestyle Motocross show. Riders from Canada and the U.S. will be at the fair displaying their stunt and trick abilities as they fly through the air. Bolton Idol band winner M.U.S.C.L.E and local band Jet Black Stereo will be showcasing their talents on stage between the Motocross shows.

The aroma of sausages and pancakes should draw crowds to the fairgrounds Sunday morning for the pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. The community church service will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the main stage. Your church envelope will be your admission to the fair. The baby show has moved to a new time slot and will now be on the main stage at 10:30 a.m. rain or shine. The goat show will be starting at 11 a.m. in the arena and at the fairgrounds will be a display of active and restored tractors and implements. Register at 9 a.m. to have your tractor judged and the parade of tractors will be at 2:30 p.m.

The always entertaining cow milking competition is back again this year. Come out to see three teams battle it out to win the title of Cow Milking Competition winner 2007. You won't want to miss this.

At 4 p.m. the Presidents' building closes its doors and on the main stage there will be a trophy presentation for winners of the weekend. At 4:30 p.m. the Presidents' building will re-open and exhibitors can start arriving to pick up their prizewinning exhibits. That will signal an end to another eventful and exciting Bolton Fall Fair.
