Central West LHIN announces task force

In late October, the people of Brampton and surrounding communities will enjoy a state-of-the-art hospital with the opening of the Brampton Civic Hospital. The new facility will be the most modern facility in Canada. Services currently being provided at Peel Memorial Hospital will be re-located to the new hospital.

"The relocation of services to Brampton Civic will give the citizens of Brampton a great opportunity to consider the future role of the Peel Memorial Hospital campus." said Caledon's Joe McReynolds, chair of the Central West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) - the agency responsible for leading the development of a plan for this site. "Today I am announcing a task force composed of health providers, municipalities and community organizations that will hear from you as residents, as community organizations, and as health care providers about how to take full advantage of the Peel Memorial site."

"We will build upon the consultative processes that occurred when we developed our initial health services plan last year. We will consult the providers and experts about how we can make the future use of this site a health, economic, and social asset of which the people of Brampton will be proud," stated Mimi Lowi- Young, CEO of the Central West LHIN.

The goal for this region is to increase people's access to care they require and to build the future capacity within the region to provide care. The Peel Memorial site gives the people of this community the opportunity to have important locations of health and hospital care.

The Central West Local Health Integration Network was established as part of building a stronger health system, and is mandated to plan, integrate and fund local health services in the region of Brampton, Caledon, Dufferin County, Malton, Woodbridge and north Etobicoke.
