4th annual 'Apple' tourney in memory of a Caledon native
This story is all too familiar for many Canadians who have been affected by asthma. More than two million Canadians suffer from the disease, and 450 die each year as a result. The real tragedy is that with proper education, most of these deaths are preventable. Mark's parents, Bolton's Rick and Maureen Ampleford, came to The Lung Association four years ago looking for a way to help others who suffer from the disease so that no one will ever have to lose a loved one to asthma again. Since Mark loved to golf, the association decided that an annual golf tournament would be a great way to remember Mark, while raising money for asthma education and awareness at the same time. The Lung Association and the Ampleford family would like to extend a special invitation to you to attend the 4th Annual "Apple" Classic Golf Tournament Wednesday, Oct. 3. All proceeds will benefit The Lung Association where they will be used to fund the Asthma Action Program. This is a free service that provides asthma sufferers and their caregivers with the information they need to properly manage their disease. Copper Creek Golf Club was awarded the Silver Medal for Best Public Golf Course in 2005 and was voted the Best New Golf Course in Ontario by the Ontario Golf Magazine. Set amid the rolling hills and forests of the Humber River Valley, this beautiful and challenging course was designed by worldrenowned architect, Doug Carrick. Individual registration is $250 and $1,000 for foursomes. For lunch only, the cost is $55. Your day includes 18 holes of golf, access to the driving range, power carts, lunch, silent auction, door prizes and more! Register for The Apple online at www.on.lung.ca. There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available. Please view the Web site for a complete listing. The association is accepting donations for the silent auction. The Lung Association is a registered charity that funds respiratory research, promotes better management of asthma, helps those with chronic lung disease, advocates a tobacco free society and addresses the effects of air quality on lung health. |
