ENVIRONMENTALIST OF THE YEAR
 | | John Gilbert (front, centre) was honoured by the Caledon environmental advisory committee Thursday as the 2007 Environmentalist of the Year. He is the 11th recipient of the award. The presentation took place at the CEAC Stewardship Grove just east of Airport Road along the Caledon Trailway in Caledon East. Joining Gilbert for the presentation were (l to r) his friend Robert Fitzgibbon, 2004 Environmentalist of the Year Nicola Ross, CEAC chair Neil Morris, CEAC members Carol Good and Hart Brasche, John's wife Corinne Gilbert, family friend Mairi MacDonald, Caledon Countryside Alliance executive director Karen Hutchinson, and John's sons Trevor Gilbert, James Gilbert and Chris Gilbert. The Caledon Countryside Alliance's new initiative - the Eat Local Challenge - received CEAC's second annual Environmentalism Recognition Award. |
