First West Nile human case Peel Public Health has confirmed Peel's first 2007 West Nile Virus (WNV) human case and its first WNV-positive batch of mosquitoes. A Mississauga woman in her late teens was diagnosed with WNV earlier this month; she was not hospitalized and is now fully recovered. The woman experienced symptoms of dizziness and weakness. Ten to 15 days prior to the onset of her symptoms, she travelled outside of Canada. It is unclear whether she acquired the illness locally or abroad. The WNV-positive batch of mosquitoes was collected in a trap located at Highway 407 and Hurontario Street in Brampton Aug. 28. |
