Annual fly-in and open house arrives Sept. 9

The Great War Flying Museum's annual fly-in is part of Brampton Flying Club's open house Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4: p.m.

Visitors can get up close to vintage, unique and amateur-built aircraft. They also can see the technology and whirling cylinders that powered many WWI fighter aircraft when Gerry Younger (Waterloo) fires up his 1/4- scale rotary engine.

Amateur-built aircraft from the Recreational Aircraft Association (Toronto Chapter) also will be on display. Instructors from the Brampton Flying Club flight school will be offering sightseeing rides in their modern training aircraft and showing off the modern training facilities at the Club.

This community event provides youngsters an opportunity climb aboard the yellow glider used by cadets from 892 Air Cadet Squadron. The Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group will attend and display their machines. Antique and classic cars also will be on display.

Parking is free. Food will be available.
