CACY courses inspire
Shaping and drawing the days away

The kids of Caledon have been letting their imaginations carry them away. Although the CACY (Caledon Arts and Craft for Youth) courses ended, many children are still enjoying the fruits of their artistic labours and the friendships that were made.

The last week of July saw two new, and one favourite, courses available for children to enjoy.

Pop Art (Popular Art) provided the chance to appreciate artistic expression from the 1960s. The children spent the week constructing examples of pop art using sonotubes, paper mache, acrylic paints and inks.

Under The Big Top let children create a mural of circus characters which have never been seen before.

Fun With Clay gave children a chance to enjoy cool clay while learning to shape it as far as their imaginations could take them.

Whether it's a useful household item, or something decorative for the bedroom, a child's pride in watching the piece take shape and be finished professionally is truly warming.

This is the result of a 'pop art' class held by CACY.
CACY will be celebrating its 50th year anniversary in November with two events. The first will be a gala dinner at The Royal Ambassador in Caledon East Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. Details can be found on the CACY Web site, www.cacy.ca. And there will be a public celebration Saturday, Nov. 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Complex in Caledon East. There will be displays, activities for all ages, and teacher demonstrations to name a few events.

Come out and celebrate the joy of art in your and your children's lives!
