Bolton Wanderers bring soccer to the youth of the Congo

The ITMS and the Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club (BWSC) are banding together to bring soccer to the youth of the war-torn country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The club is requesting donations of used or unused soccer jerseys, shoes, shorts, shin pads and socks. Donations can be dropped of in the marked green bins outside the snack bar at the Edelweiss Soccer fields during game times and the BWSC closing weekend Sept. 8 and 9.

Any other donations can be made by contacting the BWSC office at 98 Healey Road (905-857-6226).

Late September, the donations will be shipped to the Democratic Republic of the Congo by ITMS and accompanied by Les Christie (former president of the BWSC) to be handdelivered to the youth in the towns of Kinshasa and Mbandaka.

Please help the club in this worthwhile effort to bring some fun and soccer to these children. Thanks go out to Waste Management for the donations of the bins for collection and ITMS for their support. Here at home, BWSC helps local children participate in its programs through its involvement with JumpStart, provided through Canadian Tire and in co-operation with Caledon Community Services.
