RONA MS Bike Tour raises $370,000

More than 450 cyclists participated in the RONA MS Bike Tour from Brampton to Waterloo, raising $370,000 in pledges. Participants cycled 190 kilometres over two days, traveling from Brampton Fairgrounds to Waterloo and back again, motivated by the mission to find a cure for MS.

Proceeds from the event will fund research into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis, as well as provide services for people with MS and their families.

"People take part in the RONA MS Bike Tours for a number of different reasons," noted Yves Savoie, president and chief executive of the MS Society of Canada and president of the MS Society's Ontario Division. "Many of our participants have a family member or friend who lives with multiple sclerosis, and have seen first-hand the debilitating effects that the disease can have. Others might not have a personal connection to MS, but they enjoy cycling and the camaraderie of cycling with a great group of people."

Savoie adds that, whatever their reason for participating, every cyclist is making a difference in the lives of people who live with MS. "No matter why they get involved, every one of our participants is helping in the fight against multiple sclerosis, and will have been a part of ending MS when we ultimately find the cure."

Upcoming RONA MS Bike Tours will take place in the Niagara Region (Aug. 26) and in Toronto (Sept. 9). For more information, visit www.msbiketours.com.
