CAV riders raise money for centre stop at Bolton Legion for ceremony

Motorcyclists of the CAV took time to greet and thank several war veterans who were on hand at the Bolton Legion Saturday.
Roughly 50 motorcyclists rode across the GTA, arriving in Bolton Saturday, all in aid of the Tony Stacey Centre for veterans and their spouses.

Despite inclement weather, the spirits were high and the reception amazing at the Bolton Legion.

The Canadian Army Veterans (CAV) Motorcycle Unit was formed by Canadian veterans whose common bond was service to our country.

They have been raising funds through charity rides and events over the past three years, contributing more than $2 million to veterans and troops overseas.

The money raised Saturday will go to the Tony Stacey Centre for Veterans Care in Scarborough, the only facility in Canada that caters to both veterans and their spouses, allowing them to spend the rest of their lives together.

At the Bolton Legion, where participants and visitors were treated to a barbecue, the CAV made a presentation to decorated war vet Jan de Vries, who espoused the importance of the Tony Stacey Centre.
