Man killed in collision

At approximately 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 Caledon OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Old School Road near Dixie Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single motor vehicle resting on the passenger side facing eastbound in the south ditch which was approximately three metres below the road surface.

The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured and trapped. It took some time for firefighters to free him from the vehicle, according to Fire Chief Brad Bigrigg. Firefighters worked with Peel Region and Air Ambulance Paramedics to provide patient care. The driver was transported to Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton where he was pronounced deceased. The driver was 40-year-old Steven Dupuis of Owen Sound.

Old School Road was closed between Dixie Road and Heart Lake Road and will remain so for approximately four hours.

The investigation is continuing and any witnesses are asked to contact Provincial Constable Manny Rama at Caledon East, 905-584-2241.
