Separate board reacts to funding with cautious optimism
      The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is reacting with cautious optimism to the announcement that the province is putting an additional $309 million into education funding over the next two years. Dufferin- Peel's portion of these funds is reported to be up to $7 million.

Contract to fix cemetery
      The contract to complete stone monument repairs at the Melville White Church Cemetery was recently awarded by Caledon council to 2139254 Ontario Ltd. for its price of $54,360, excluding GST. The cemetery has 160 stone monuments in varying states of repair.

Town gives $10,000 for study
      Caledon council recently approved contributing $10,000 to the Highway 50/Highway 427 Extension Area Transportation Master Plan. The study cost is estimated at about $100,000. Peel region and the City of Brampton will split evenly the balance of the cost.

      The Gore Road between Mayfield Road and Healey Road in Caledon was closed Aug. 13 due to a severed gas line, OPP reported. The Caledon fire department and Enbridge Gas were at the scene. No evacuation was requested.

      Caledon council recently reached a licence agreement with GO Transit for the temporary storage of buses at the Castlederg public works yard. Go Transit approached the Town regarding a temporary location to store its buses when they are not in use, until a more permanent site is secured.
