In search of rock, ice and water

In quest of his dream to capture Canada's north on canvas, artist Cory Trépanier sets his sights on Baffin Island in the eastern Arctic for the second leg of his Into the Arctic Journey that began Aug. 1.

Against a dramatic backdrop of huge icebergs, kilometre-high fiords, polar ice caps, glaciers and the highest sheer rock face in the world, Cory will share his month-long trek in this beautiful and mysterious part of Canada through his paintings, video journals, photos, stories and a documentary.

Canadians will be able to follow Cory throughout the month of August via his Web site www.intothearctic.com through his written blog every few days, and weekly photo and video journals (a free subscription to the videos series is available through iTunes).

Trépanier hopes the sharing of his explorations will help others experience the Canadian Arctic in ways that educate, inspire, stimulate and enhance awareness of this precious region and the impact it can have on us.

Last summer's journey was the first of a three-year adventure. Those travels were captured on video and resulted in the documentary "Into the Arctic: An Artist's Journey to the North" which aired recently on Bravo!
