Wanderers U9 boys score silver medal

The members of the Bolton Wanderers U9 boys team that won a silver medal in Montreal recently includes (back row, l to r) assistant coach Matthew Ryan, Brossard Counsellor, head coach Frank Fontana (second row) Matthew Ficele, Courtney Smith, Sammy Valotta, Matthew Cardadeiro, Antonio DiGiovanni, Rocco Marinaccio (first row) Alexander Lucente, David Ryan, William Bidzios, Christopher Cola and Pietro Bruccoleri.
Bolton's U9 boys competitive team travelled to Montreal Aug. 4-5 for the Challenge Brossard Soccer Tournament, and for the third time this season brought home medals!

Facing some high calibre AA teams, the boys started slow on the Saturday dropping a 3-2 decision to L'Eclair de Brossard in the opening match, however, came back with a vengeance against Le Spatial de St. Hubert scoring a 6-0 victory.

Keeping the momentum going Sunday, the Wanderers then defeated the Unionville Milliken 4-0.

After finishing second out of 10 AA teams, the boys advanced to the semifinals where they defeated Saltfleet 4-2.

The final against the Mississauga Falcons would be a challenge, specifically due to intense heat, having to travel to a third field, and after literally playing backto back matches the entire day with no "down time" at all.

Unfortunately, Bolton came up short. Despite challenges, the trip to Montreal proved to be an overall success - a shiny silvery success - that the team can be proud of. Congratulations!

The Wanderers Under 9 Boys Competitive squad is sponsored by: All-Metal Fabricating, Crabby Joe's, International Clothiers, and TF Equipment.

Congratulations go out to players William Bidzios, Pietro Bruccoleri, Matthew Cardadeiro, Christopher Cola, Antonio DiGiovanni, Matthew Ficele, Alexander Lucente, Rocco Marinaccio, David Ryan, Courtney Smith and Sammy Valotta, as well as head coach Frank Fontana, assistant coach Matthew Ryan and team manager Marina DiGiovanni.
