Council waves some fees for IngleWoodstock With the IngleWoodstock music festival fast approaching, Caledon council has lent a hand by waving some of the Town fees related to the event. At last Tuesday's meeting, council granted the Village of Inglewood Association an exemption from the $2,500 exhibition licence fee. Council also asked staff to review opportunities for further exemption of Town-related expenses. Roger Crathern, president of the VIA, and his wife, Nell Crathern, chair of the IngleWoodstock music festival, asked council to wave some of the fees for the first-time event to be held Aug. 24-25. Roger Crathern said the event was the brainchild of his wife with the proceeds going to Bethell House, the new hospice facility to be built in Inglewood. He explained the IngleWoodstock expenses amount to $36,650. This includes $11,675 for the 41 acts that will perform, $2,000 for sound equipment, $7,000 for Caledon OPP, $4,000 for private security, $1,175 for insurance, $1,000 for ticketing/promotional costs and $9,800 for Town of Caledon fees. He added they hope to raise between $20,000 and $30,000. They're limited to 1,000 tickets per day at a cost of $25 per ticket. Councillor Doug Beffort said at a minimum the licence fee should be reduced. Councillor Richard Paterak thanked the Cratherns for their work and inspiration. Mayor Marolyn Morrison said the organizers are an example of how wonderful the community is. |
