Agreement reached for donations to animal care A memorandum of understanding was executed last Tuesday between Caledon council and Margie Mols and Sell Off Vacations Inc. accepting their donations for animal care at the Caledon Animal Shelter. Since 2005, Mols with the support of Sell Off Vacations Inc. has provided funds for the care of dogs and cats at the shelter. Mols is a long-time volunteer and supporter of the Caledon Animal Shelter. She has organized events such as a Giggles Comedy Night which raised $1,930.10, plus the monthly operation of booths at Zehrs, Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire to bring awareness of the Caledon Animal Shelter and animal welfare issues. She's also made arrangements with Sell Off Vacations so that $10 from each vacation package bought by a Caledon resident is donated to the shelter. Town staff noted not only has Mols raised $5,514.15 to date for the shelter, she has also improved adoption rates and public awareness. Through these funds, the shelter has been able to perform many medical procedures such as spaying and neutering of dogs and cats, sedating and grooming severely matted dogs and cats, dentistry, veterinary examination, exploratory surgery and X-rays for diagnostic purposes, hospitalization of many small kittens, an antibiotics and vaccinations for dogs and cats at the shelter. The funds have also been used to buy formula for bottle feeding, orphaned kittens and for providing advanced treatment for infectious virus control. The funds donated by Mols and Sell Off vacations will be deposited in the Town's emergency veterinary account. |
