IngleWoodstock a two-day musical event In February, a group of residents from Inglewood came together to plan a two-day, multi-performance musical event to be staged at the Inglewood arena/park area Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24-25 to raise funds for Bethell House, a new hospice facility being built in Inglewood. The residents decided to name the festival using a combination of Inglewood and Woodstock, thus IngleWoodstock was conceived. It was only afterwards that they discovered a connection between the two. Woodstock Festival was held in Bethell, New York, and IngleWoodstock is a fund-raiser for Bethell House. The event will be held at the Lloyd Wilson Centennial Arena park on the Credit River in the scenic village of Inglewood. The starting time for both days will be noon and the last band will finish at 11 p.m. Prices for each day is $25 with a two-day pass specially priced. To date there are 35 bands in the wings. The music for Friday, although geared for teenagers with bands Ilscarlett and Sydney, all ages will enjoy. Saturday is a mix of all genres of music rock and roll, jazz and traditional folk guaranteed to appeal to all tastes. Organizers are hoping to have 2,000 attendees over the two days roughly divided into two sections: Friday is a teens, alcoholfree event; Saturday is family oriented and licensed. Their priority is to have a safe, secure and wellorganized event for all ages. There will be a variety of food and beverages available including vegetarian fare. On Saturday only there will be a beer tent. Watch for posters, ads and a Web site and plan on joining in this most unique and worth-while event. If you are interested in volunteering for either day, please contact one of the IngleWoodstock organizers or e-mail inglenell@sympatico.ca. |
