BLOOD DONOR CHALLENGE
Caledon OPP and fire and emergency services helped launch Canadian Blood Services' Sirens for Life blood

donor challenge at the Caledon Community Complex in Caledon East recently. Former firefighter Alex

Weatherhead who now drives the command vehicle for the Caledon East fire department donated his blood with

phlebotomist Krina Patel keeping an eye on him. The event was a great success. A total of 70 donors attended

the clinic which collected 52 units translating into 116 per cent of its 45-unit projection. This figure is even more

rewarding as the 52 units collected can save or improve the lives of up to 156 people.
