Wanderers recreational soccer league highlights

This past week's MVP medal for U4 Germany went to Joseph Collella. His ability to run and turn the ball around displayed on numerous occasions throughout the game. Joseph also shows great team spirit and is always willing to get on the field and help out his friends on Germany.

Mexico MVP award went to Michael Tucci for outstanding effort and sportsmanship during play, as well as scoring two goals for his team. Japan had two MVPs - Ethan Gracey and Luke Ranieri. Luke Ranieri's speed and power kicks contributed to Team Japan's win. Ethan's determination and teamwork gave Team Japan many opportunities and paid off with his first goal of the season.

Under 4 Girls

The Telus U4 Girls team was led last Monday by the determined play of Jaida Venturo who scored two goals versus Rainbow Academy Canada. Congratulations to Jaida for her outstanding contribution.

Under 6 Boys

Argentina's Joseph Caridi & Nicolas Clemenzi earned co-MVP awards in their game against Canada. Practising all week in anticipation of their Thursday night game paid off, as the highly motivated due put on a passing clinic and combined for 9 goals! Joseph netted three while assisting on all six of Nicolas's goals.

Another game on the night was USA vs. Switzerland. Luca Fabiano played an exceptional game in the USA goal. His quick goal kicks up the sidelines helped create two goals. Also, scoring their first goals of the season were Andre Chiodo and Gianmarco Tarsitano.

Team Sweden is on a roll with an impressive 7-2 win over The Netherlands. Stars were Luca Pellegrino and speedster Marcus Ionta who scored three each. Draydon Leggieri, with his first on the season, got MVP honours.

Under 8 Boys

Ghana's team MVP was Matthew Amato, scoring all three of their goals in a win over Portugal.

MVP for Germany was Ryan Karrandjas. Ryan showed great defensive play throughout the game while also setting up great scoring opportunities. Joseph Quadrini also contributed immensely on the defensive side and displayed a strong effort in goal to keep Germany in the game.

For Portugal, team MVP was Lucas Capicotto who scored 2 goals against a very difficult opponent in Scotland.

Under 8 Girls

Although Denmark lost to Canada, Isabella Ariganello still managed to score an amazing 4 goals and was awarded MVP.

Under 10 Boys

England played against Switzerland, with Switzerland winning 4-2. England's two goals were from Christian Ceccarelli and Adam Gravina. Brazil continued its winning ways with Daniel Rovito netting 2 goals, Michael Coroado and Vincent Figlomeni with 1 goal each, leading them to a 4-0 win over team Denmark.

Under 10 Girls

Team Netherlands shut out Team Italy 3-0. Netherlands scored an early goal from midfielder Kendra Hawerlluk and took a lead into the half. They then netted two more in the second half with Kendra Hawrelluk scoring her second, and one by Julia Stillisano. Team Italy, short on players nearly came back with a late charge but excellent defending from Netherlands held them off the score sheet.

Under 12 Boys

With only 11 players at the game, and no substitutes, Portugal lost 4-2 against Brazil. Brazil saw a single goal from Gabriel Fazekas, and a hat trick by Christopher Viola, whereas Christian Federico and Nicky Figliomeni scored for Portugal.

Under 12 Girls

In a very close game, Scotland won against England 3-1. On Scotland's score sheet: Amanda Wilfang with 2 goals and Louisa Lombardi with 1. England's Sarah Bachorski scored her team's goal. England had 2 fantastic goal keepers, Brianne Lee for the first half and Sarah Bachorski for the 2nd half. Great effort by both teams! Another game saw Brazil against Netherlands, and with single goals by Amanda Williams, Nadia De Novellis, and Alyssandra Abballe, Brazil won 3-0.

Under 14 Boys

Canada defeated Argentina by a score of 7-2. With four goals for Canada was Robert Keszeg, and his teammates Christian Bonaldi, David D'Amico, and Trevor Moore. On the other side Daniel Cafagna and Vincent Figliomeni each scored for Argentina.

Ladies

A hat trick by Megan O'Quinn and a goal by Christina Guglielmi led Italy to a 4-2 win over Argentina.
