Council gives $5,000 to Ontario Streams

Caledon council recently authorized taking $5,000 from its Community Green Fund and giving it to Ontario Streams for the Caledon Headwaters Rehabilitation Initiative.

Ontario Streams will use the green funds to implement tree planting and in-stream restoration efforts on two important coldwater streams that run through Caledon, namely Centreville Creek and Caledon Creek.

About 3,000 trees and shrubs will be planted on a farm field within the Albion Hills Conservation Area which is adjacent to Centreville Creek.

About 400 native trees and shrubs will be planted over 100 metres of streams at Caledon Creek.

Town staff recommended the Ontario Streams project for funding because it engages the community, collaborates with stakeholders and delivers strong and measurable environmental results.
