PEYA gives board highlights

The Peel Environmental Youth Alliance recently provided an update of its activities to the Dufferin-Peel Catholic district school board.

PEYA is a network of action-oriented students in Peel region concerned about environmental issues and determined to make positive change. It unites students across Peel working to improve the environment in their schools and neighbourhoods.

Crystina Tsong, a student at Our Lady of Mount Carmel secondary school and PEYA representative, provided highlights of activities students participated in May 1 and May 16.

Secondary school students from across Peel region planted more than 1,500 native trees and shrubs, went on guided nature walks, built bird boxes and removed plant invasive species at six sites throughout Caledon, Brampton and Mississauga. Robert F. Hall Catholic secondary school in Caledon East was among the Catholic secondary schools that participated.
