Holland on short list for under 17 hockey team

Team Ontario director of operations, Rob Kitamura announced the short list of 35 players who will be further evaluated for the 2007/08 Ontario Under 17 Team.

These players were among the 84 players from across the province who attended the Provincial Under 17 Identification Camp held at York University June 25-29.

Caledon's Peter Holland, who plays forward in the OMHA, made the short list.

"The process of narrowing the numbers down was not an easy task. The 5-day camp gave all of our evaluators, including our coaching staff, an opportunity to observe the skill sets that these athletes possess. The process will now move into the second phase whereby these top 35 players will continue to be evaluated throughout the fall months with their club teams," stated Rob Kitamura. "All of the young men who attended the provincial camp should be very proud of their achievement and the effort that was put forth both on and off the ice. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the Ontario Hockey Federation, Canlan Ice Gardens and York University for their tremendous hospitality during the Provincial camp."

The thirty-five identified players will continue to be monitored by Kitamura, head coach Jason Brooks, and assistant coaches Jake Grimes and Mario Cichillo. The team that is selected will be representing the province at the 2007/2008 International World Hockey Challenge being held in London Ontario beginning Dec. 27 until Jan. 5, 2008.
