Omega Lift wins defence contract for HERC units The most recent airlift acquisition of the Canadian Department of National Defence is an order with Boeing for four C-17 Globemaster III transport planes. These rapid, reliable and flexible transport planes will boost Canada's international presence,providing rapid strategic troop deployment and cargo transportation of oversized combat and support equipment, coast to coast and anywhere on the globe. Omega Lift Manufacturing Inc. of Bolton has been contracted to provide the Canadian Department of National Defence with all-terrain companion support forklift units. Omega Lift's history with the Canadian Department of National Defence has given them a reputation that their all-terrain forklifts meet the rigorous requirements and tough on-the-ground realities of deployment in current global military field applications. "Being awarded this contract speaks to the fact that our past contracts with the Canadian Department of National Defence continue to build on our reputation that our all-terrain forklift equipment is built to meet/exceed required specifications and are dependable and tough. It is the same reputation by which we have been long known in commercial/ non-military applications," said a company spokesman. Two Omega Lift 50,000 lb. militarized HERC Series units are scheduled for delivery in the beginning of 2008 with another two units slated for delivery later the same year to coincide with the delivery of the C-17 Globemasters. The Omega Lift HERCs are specifically engineered and built for unique military applications,boasting rugged construction,heavy-duty lift capacities of 50,000 pounds at 48-inch load centres and 10-inch side-shift capabilities. |
