Grown in Peel maps available

Sure, you can buy vegetables, fruit and baked goods at your local grocery store. But you can also get them directly from the farmers who grow them - right here in Caledon, and throughout the Region of Peel.

To assist Caledon residents, businesses and visitors to access locally grown food and products, a "Grown in Peel" map is available free of charge at Town Hall and library branches. The easy-to-read map features 23 farms and three farmers' markets in Peel complete with hours of operation, product assortment and peak seasons. In addition to vegetables and fruit, you'll also find meats, honey, maple syrup, baked goods, garden supplies, wine and much more.

"The Town of Caledon is proud of its agricultural heritage and continues to support this industry," said Mayor Marolyn Morrison. "Our agricultural partnerships help the Town to increase visibility and viability for our local food producers and farming operations.

Led by the Region of Peel and the Peel Agricultural Advisory Working Group, the map and complementary Web site are the result of a partnership between the Town of Caledon, the cities of Brampton and Mississauga, the Caledon Countryside Alliance, and the Peel Federation of Agriculture.
