Big guns come out in Inglewood Ball Hockey League action

There were some big scores for the beginning of July's action in the IBHL.

July 3 Carney Plumbing 5,

Mr. Handyman 2

Mike Zimmerman was on fire for the plumbers on this night as he led all players with a hat-trick and an assist. Ryan Zimmerman and Brandon Looby rounded out Carney's carnage, with other helpers from Looby, Colin Gosling, Glen Priseman, and Kevin Alves. Handyman hammers were dropped by Kyle Stojisn and Pasquale Chiapetta, with assists from Stojisn, Eddy Hurley and Steve Ceizler.

Valleywood Longhorns 4,

Freezerland 0

Martin Abuyuan stood tall between the pipes for Valleywood as he turned away all shots and got his team the win. Net-nabbers for Valleywood were Mike Sagona from Adam Minatel and Matt Moss, Matt McKay from Minatel and Moss, Justin Mann from Andrew Parps and Moss, and McKay from Ryan Spiteri and Minatel.

B. Andrews Truck 6,

Lockyer Harrison Law 4

A strong 1st for B. Andrews was enough for them to hold on for the win over the LH Law crew. Scoring for B. Andrews were Dennis Roswell (1g), Travis Vincent (1a), Keith Tolmie (4g, 1a), Dion Stuckless (1g), Shawn Bussey (1a), Boyd Andrews (1a) Korbin Purchase Jr. (1a), Chris Purchase (3a), Mike Vatcher (1a) and Bill Washington (2a).

LH Law gunners were Stuart Morawski (3g), Mitch Nail (2a), Luke Maxwell (1a), Dave Slokar (1g, 2a), Mike Garvie (1g, 1a) and Matt Cordina (2a).

July 5

B. Andrews Truck 1

Point getters for Gould Team Sweden bounces back

Team Sweden recovered from a recent slump, with a win over Germany in under 6 boys' soccer action July 5 at Edelweiss.

Just minutes into the game, Luca Pellegrino put Sweden on the map. Germany tied it up and went ahead 3-1 with back-to-back markers. Nicholas Tantalo narrowed the gap for Sweden. That set the stage for the fancy footwork of Marcus Ionta who netted a pure hat trick, handing his team the win. Germany had the final say, narrowing the gap to 5-4. Liam Bavington earned MVP honours for his first-half stint in Sweden's net, bouncing back from a painful block. Liam Hesketh-Pavilons also hustled hard in the game. were Rob Horton, Steve Corrgia, Joe D'Sousa, Sean Thompson, Justin Dixon, Matt Greco, Glenn Holmes, Pierre Philipon, Jesse Leitch, Tom Hunter and Jason Puopolo. B. Andrews' sniper was Mike Vatcher from Keith Tolmie and Chris Purchase.

Scoring points for Sports were Kelly Lyons, Aidan Maloney, Brad Bunn, Jeremy Ciccerelli, Steve Sauve, Nelson Medeiros, Steve Smith, Jon Lee and Rob Sytsma.

CEAV goal getters were Nick Bowes-Henry (2g), Scott Matheson (2a), Alex Ball (1a) and Alex Hogg (1a).

Blue Team 6,

Mr. Handyman 1

Point-getters for Blue were Shawn Heron, Wade, Owen & Matt Speirs, Matt Wilkinson, Lee Erwin, Craig Shaw and Geoff Christie. Steve Ceizler was Mr. Handyman's lone lamplighter with Bobby Evong and Marcio Rodrigues getting the assists.

2nd Week

The second week of playoff action in IBHL resulted in some close and others not so close.

June 26 Lockyer Harrison Law 2,

Freezerland 1

In a nail-biter that had more penalties than goals LH Law were able to squeak out a win. Mitch Nail and Mike Garvie were the go-to guys for the Law crew while Garvie, Kyle Sousa and Justin Beraldo garnered assists. Gord King from Mike Murphy were Freezerland's point-getters.

Mr. Handyman 3,

Sports Unlimited 1

Mr. Handyman put the hammer down on Sports and was able to pull out the win. Bobby Evong with a pair and a helper was the go-to guy for Handyman, while Steve Ceizler got the other with helpers going to Shaun Cerveira, Claudio Ramalo, Luca Zelikovic and Marcio Rodrigues. Sports' lone marksman was Adam Montgomery from Aidan Maloney.

Gould Fasteners 6,

Valleywood Longhorns 3

Gould continued on their winning ways with yet another victory. Scoring for Gould were Justin Dixon (1g, 1a), Dave Stenning (1g), Sean Thompson (1g, 1a), Craig Size (1g), Rob Horton (1a), Jesse Leitch (2g, 1a), Tom Horton (2a), and Paul Felker, goalie (1a). Valleywood lamplighters were Matt McKay, Adam Minatel and Mike Sagona; helpers came from the sticks of Lucas Simonetta, McKay, Minatel, Andrew Parps and Justin Mann.

June 28

Blue Team 9,

CEAV 2

Scoring for Blue were Corey and Shawn Heron, Matt, Wade and Owen Speirs, Craig Shaw, Geoff Christie and Matt Wilkinson. CEAV snipers were Alex Ball and Brock Mercer with assists to Alex Hogg, and Curtis Gregson.

B. Andrews Truck 5,

Freezerland 4

In a close one, B. Andrews pulled one out of the hat with a late 3rd period goal to get the win. Chris Purchase was on fire for B. Andrews as he netted the hat trick plus one with the other marker coming from Junior Gillard. Helpers went to Mike Vatcher, Keith Tolmie, John Churchill and Shawn Bussey. Freezerland netnabbers were Shawn Sparks, Mike Murphy and Dan Foley, with Sparks and Murphy getting the assists.

Sports Unlimited 2,

Carney Plumbing 1

In a defensive battle both Evan Maloney and Derek Carroll back stopped their teams with tremendous efforts. Sports scorers were Jon Lee and Claudio Campoli, with Campoli getting the only assists for them. Mike Zimmerman was the lone goal getter for Carney with help from Kevin Alves and Brandon Looby.
