Plenty of action in Wanderers' house league For team Germany, two players won MVP awards for playing well, Gianluca Matticoli and Joshua Smith. Gianluca shined last week as goalie, doing a great job jumping and diving for the ball. The opposing team had a hard time scoring with Gianluca in net! Joshua played a great second half working hard at getting the ball from his opponents and scoring his first goal of the season. With outstanding overall performance all around the field, Mexico's MVP was won by Allessandro Letteri. And, Jordan McAuley's excellent goaltending gave Team Japan a shutout in the first half of the game, earning him the MVP medal. Under 4 Girls In Germany vs. Netherlands, Germany was short a few players. Still, Bronwyn Seymour scored 2 goals, and won the MVP award for Germany. The Netherlands side was led by Emily Ottens who picked up her first goal in soccer. Emily's fine effort also led to her being awarded as the team's MVP. Under 6 Boys Scotland's MVP this week was Michael Ragno, who played both forward, showing fantastic skills that lead to a goal, and making great saves while playing in goal. Under 10 Boys Last week England played Denmark. England got goals from Christian Ceccarelli and Justin Burt, but it wasn't enough as England lost 3-2. Team Brazil showed it's great play with a 10-1 defeat of Germany. Strikers Daniel Rovito and Julian Summaria scored 3 goals each. Christian Massone scored a pair. And, Suliaman Mahmood and Storm Stranges each had one goal. Under 10 Girls In last Tuesday's game, Netherlands closely defeated Germany 2-1. With nobody scoring in the first half, Team Netherlands went up two goals to nil in the second, with goals by Julie French and the eventual game winner by Zoe Romeo. Team Germany came back with a late goal, attempting a brave comeback, but ran out of time. Under 12 Boys Last Monday, Rennie Lift (Portugal) beat Nu Sportswear (Germany) by a score of 7-2. Nicky Figliomeni scored three for Portugal. Other goals were from Carlo Satira, Christian Federico, and with their first goals of the season, Andrew Villella and Alex Palumbo. On Germany, Michael Sheridan and Bryan Patterson got one each. Under 12 Girls Katie's Fitness (Netherlands) shut out England last week 4-0. Corine Symons scored one for Netherlands, and the top scorer with three, was Melissa Posocco. Previous Week Under 4 Boys On Team Germany, MVP was Christian Sena. Sena played a great game as goalie making numerous saves. Christian is always eager to get on the field and tries very hard to get the ball away from the other team. On Japan, Gianluca Satira was awarded the MVP of the week for scoring the most goals in the game. Under 4 Girls For June 25, the Telus U4 Netherlands girls' MVP was Mattie Kerrigan. Mattie showed her growing enthusiasm for soccer leading her teammates versus Polar Mechanical Scotland U4 Girls. Congratulations Mattie. The MVP of Team Canada was Alexandra Puchiele. Alexandra did a great job chasing down the ball and taking it to the goal! And, Vanessa Ramos scored the first goal of the game against England to win that week's MVP award for Germany. Under 6 Boys In Under 6 Boys action, Brazil faced Denmark. Brazil's U6 boys MVP of this week was Massimo Galluzzo. Massimo scored 2 goals for the team. On the Denmark side, the MVP was Adamo Di Tullio. Adamo played exceptionally in a hard fought game against Brazil. On Team USA, two players who shared the MVP, Adriano Di Nenno & Justin Chiodo who scored two goals each as USA played Germany. Under 8 Boys June 27, Aspen Inc. (Germany) played USA. It was a very close game throughout all 50 minutes, with both teams demonstrating outstanding team play. Aaron Sant netted a goal in his second consecutive game to give Germany a tie in final minute. Final score, 7-7. Under 10 Girls Germany faced Italy in Under 10 Girls action. Italy won 7-1, with 4 goals from the feet of Chloe Hill, and a hat-trick by Monica Buffen. The Germany goal came from Emily Padula. Under 12 Boys Eurosteel, Team Canada played a tough game, however suffered its first lost of their season to Team Portugal, 6-4. Canada's goals came from Jon Gandza, Nathan Blom, Simone Terrerri, and Justin Bailey. Portugal got two goals form Nicky Figliomeni and Carlo Satira, and singles from Nathan Doig and Christian Federico. Meanwhile Italian side Caledon Karate edged out England's Canadian Tire squad 5-4. William Das Neves scored for Italy, but the magic came from striker Eric Croft with the 4 goals. Andrew Mangiapane scored two for England, with Jacob Dilorenzo and Liam Groulx getting singles. Under 12 Girls Brazil won their fourth game of the season by doubling up on Italy 4-2. Brazil's goals came from team-mates Jocelyn Foisy, Marah Conti, Amanda Williams, and Paige Mclean. Also, the Netherlands sponsored by Katie's Fitness drew 2-2 against Argentina. Scoring for Holland: Taylor Edan and Corinne Symons. Ladies In Wanderers adult ladies division play, Italy overcame Canada, 5-3 with Megan O'Quinn scoring four goals, and Jenna Adams collecting a single for Italy. |
