Lands in Mayfield West allowed to be developed

Lands designated academic/research campus in the Mayfield West Secondary Plan will be permitted by Caledon council to develop in accordance with the prestige industrial designation.

One of the objectives of the plan is to provide for the establishment of an academic/research campus to accommodate a post-secondary institution such as a university or community college and research and product development uses. The plan designates about 50 acres of land, located west of Heart Lake Road and north of the proposed industrial collector road for academic/ research campus uses.

Town staff noted, however, based on the findings of two recent studies, it appears unlikely a post-secondary education institution will locate in the academic/research campus designation in Mayfield West in the next five to 10 years.
